Academic program assessment

As an initial step in the ongoing program assessment process, each major degree program will develop an assessment plan that includes all courses associated with a degree major. Eventually, degree minors and courses not affiliated with a specific degree program will need to be integrated into college and campus assessment plans. Gen ed courses will be assessed as part of the General Education assessment sphere.

The program assessment process is as follows:

  1. Identify program goals*
  2. Identify program objectives*
  3. Align courses with program goals and objectives
  4. Providing evidence of how well students are meeting your goals and objectives
  5. Develop a plan for ongoing student outcomes assessment
  6. Conduct assessments and use results for improvement
